Ipoh Trip - 2nd July 2011

Hi ya all! Sorry for the short hiatus from blogging as I was busy catching up and going out almost everyday with my siblings and their families. My siblings were back from Singapore last 2 weeks ago to celebrate my Dad's 70th birthday. It was a grand birthday celebration for my Dad. :) Will blog about it soon.

Actually I have quite a lot of things to blog about..hehe..right now let me blog about our Ipoh trip first. My Hubby took a one week leave from work last week so we decided to go to Ipoh to hunt for good food (finally...) and we even stayed one night at the Tower Regency Hotel (after reading Mommy Ling's review on this hotel..:P).

This was our first maiden trip to Ipoh and I couldn't believe it that we actually managed to find most of the famous places to eat in Ipoh (with the help of Hubs' Blackberry which has the map function).

I did my homework before embarking to Ipoh and I referred to this blog, a famous food blogger from Ipoh called "Motormouth From Ipoh". This is the complete list of ultimate food in Ipoh from Motormouth.

Ipoh...here we come!

We check in at Tower Regency Hotel first right after we reached Ipoh. Hubby booked the hotel through phone at 1am on the same day we travel to Ipoh. Only left the One Room Apartment at RM208 per day.

We were satisfied with the condition of the apartment. It was clean and cozy. Also, the location of the hotel is strategic too.

After checking in at the hotel, we headed to the famous bean sprouts chicken restaurant, Lou Wong. Suddenly we remembered that we actually ate here before...LOL...that was almost 3 years ago when we were on our way back from Cameron Highlands to KL and decided to stop in Ipoh for lunch. Coincidently, we ended up at Lou Wong (we didn't know Lou Wong is the most popular chicken rice restaurant in Ipoh back then)..LOL.

That's the restaurant...haha we were here 3 years ago.

Fishball soup.

Steamed Chicken.

Bean Sprouts.

The food at Lou Wong was good but not their service though..hehe. We were here rather late around 2PM hence the place wasn't crowded and we managed to grab a table.

We also bought some "heong peng" and biscuits from this shop which is right opposite Lou Wong. We were here too 3 years ago..LOL.

Bought some "heong peng" and chicken biscuits and other snacks for my family.

Our next stop was the Big Tree Stall (Dai Shu Geok) at Pasir Pinji..thanks to Barb..hehe. ^_^

That's the famous yong tau foo stall. :)

Finally, I get to sink my teeth into this..."sar kok liew" (deep fried stuffed turnip/yam bean). I absolutely love them...yummy. ^_^

Gwen loves the deep fried stuffed turnip too.

This stall selling drinks also sells rojak too.

The rojak was quite good.

After stuffing our stomachs with so much food, we went back to the hotel and had some rest. Hubs and I took a nap. As for Gwen she was an energizer bunny...she was watching TV on bed and played alone.

We drove to Medan Selera Stadium for our dinner. The food court was right beside the stadium.

That's the landmark. ^_^

Yoon Kee bean sprouts chicken stall is the one on the left.

According to Motormouth, Yoon Kee stall is Dato' Michelle Yeoh's fave haunt.

Chicken rice from Yoon Kee stall. Quite good.

Yoon Kee's dry curry chicken noodles. Nice.

Char Kuey Teow from stall No.18

One of the best Char Kuey Teow I've ever had.

After dinner, we decided to hop over to Ipoh Parade. We really don't know where we can go at night..hehe. There's nothing to see at Ipoh Parade actually but someone was begging to ride on this. -__-

Gwen had a good 5 mins ride on the elephant..LOL.

Will blog about our Ipoh Trip on Day 2 next....
