My Family Was Here In Jakarta

Thank you everyone for the get well wishes. Gwen just recovered from her cough few days ago. :)

My mum and sister were in Jakarta on 17 Sep. They were here for a very brief 'holiday'..only 2 days..hehe.

We brought them to Taman Safari Indonesia at Cisarua (near Bogor) on Saturday. We departed from our hotel around 7.45 am. The journey from Jakarta to Bogor takes approximately 1.5 - 2 hours without the traffic jam.

We were caught in the 'one-way-traffic-diversion' massive jam and luckily our quick thinking driver made a detour and took the shortcut taking the access road through the village.

The shortcut to Taman Safari where we were able to by-pass the main roads and the massive traffic jam. The road was quite narrow and steep at certain point...my mum was worried haha.

No worries, we finally reached the foot of Taman Safari. We were really close already.

We bought some carrots to feed the animals later.

We finally reached our destination which took about 2 hours plus. Yay!

A herd of elephants greeted us first.

Now, let the feeding frenzy begin. All of us enjoyed the experience tremendously. ^_^

Gwen was ecstatic. She sat in front with Daddy.

A different angle of Gwen feeding the camel.

Now, it was my sister and her 2 year old son's turn feeding the hungry camel. :)

The giraffes were not allowed to roam freely.

We threw some carrots to the giraffes.

Hubby's self portrait of Gwen and himself.

My sister took this picture of Gwen

My sister with my nephew, JH.

This buffalo was really huge. Its almost the size of the Innova!

Gwen was feeding a buffalo here...a smaller one.

Feeding a deer.

The deer enjoying its free meal. :)

The llamas were quite aggresive. They tugged really hard at the carrots and snapped the carrot into 2 pieces..LOL. This is a good shot taken by my sister.

My mum feeding a zebra. I caught my mum throwing the carrot out of the car..haha.

Gwen's turn.

My sister and JH feeding the zebra.

This gazelle was huge. FYI, we were sitting in a Toyota Innova.

Coincidently, this hippo was crossing the road.

This hippo was ready to be fed. It just open its mouth wide while my mum tossed a carrot into its big mouth.

We are now at the lions and tigers enclosure. We were instructed to wind up all windows. I wind down the window just a little bit to take some pics of the tigers and lions.

Bengal tigers.

The lions.

A rhino.

After sitting in the car for almost 3 hours plus (feeding and the travelling time), we finally alighted the car where we get to see more animals (in their own enclosures).

We were famished and had something to eat at the cafe. We took the kids for a pony ride after our lunch.

My sister and JH on a little pony.

Gwen and JH.

Another photo for the album.

Next we proceeded to the Baby Zoo.

Por por and her grand kids.

All of us except Hubby coz he was the cameraman. :P

It started to drizzle when the kids were riding on the ponies. I guess the RM5 rain coat I bought for Gwen from Daiso really came in handy..hehe.

You can take photos with some of the baby animals at the Baby Zoo. Only RM3 per person.

My sister dare not move a muscle here...haha.

We did not stay long enough coz all of us were tired and the weather wasn't good that day. It rained while we were there.

Lastly a picture of the Komodo Dragon. Yucks!

On Sunday (final day), we brought my family to Grand Indonesia. My sister wanted to try some local Indonesian food so we brought them to an Indon restaurant.

Sorry for the half eaten dishes photos. We had deep fried sotong, sweet sour fish, ayam penyet (not in the pic), kangkung and sup buntut.

After lunch we went to Fun World (arcade and play center) and then we called it a day. My mum and sister flew back to KL on the very next day. Actually, that's nothing much to see here in Jakarta lah.

I can still remember your last post on this Taman Safari. The animal feeding part is so familiar and still fresh in my mind :) I don't think I dare to feed large animals like these... small ones still ok lah hehe :p

You are all very brave, wind down your window all the way down.... It is definitely a memorable experience. Last time we filled up our cars with lots of carrots and bananas... Because it gets cheaper and cheaper from one vendor to the next.... I enjoyed feeding elephants the most at the resting area....

I laughed when I read your caption whereby your mom tossed the carrot at the zebra. I bet I would have done the same thing at my first go! hehe. Gwen is such a pro when it comes to feeding all the animals. Btw, I really love this safari place. Nice family pic with your sis and mom:)

Open-concept zoo! We don't have it in M'sia yet. Walking is not required, only sit in the car and check each animal out. I like the idea (for a lazy bum like me who don't enjoy sweating myself)!

Close encounter with so many wild animals. I am sure Gwen was the happiest kid then. Your sister is very sweet too, just like you.

Most of those animals love carrot! I'm sure that'll be more interesting if your family can extend their vacation there :-)

Whoa! you are all so brave for feeding the animals. good thing they don't harm people, hehe. I'm just curious why the giraffes are not allowed to roam freely?

Gwen's so brave to feed the animals. I'm sure I'll never dare open my window seeing the hippos, the rhinos & the lions, hehe. I won't dare sit beside the baby cub either, haha. If it's a kitten, then, it's okay :))

And oh, I've noticed that beauty really runs in your family. You and your sister got that pretty look on your mom, no wonder your kids are good-looking, too ;-)
