She Earned It
I have been slowing down in blogging these days. The snail pace broadband connection from the hotel is killing me (not stable at all). Anyway, before my posts became moldy, I better record it down first while I still can.
I'm a very concern mother but not the kiasu type lah..haha. I'm always on my toes tracking Gwen's progress at school. So far, the feedback I got from her teachers was..."Gwen can read very well and she is able to her Math by herself but she is slow in completing her work and also she gets distracted easily." Sigh...Gwen oh Gwen.
I noticed that Gwen's handwriting is not consistent...sometimes ok and sometimes bad. I am a Tiger mum...yes..coincidently I'm also born in the year of the TIGER. :P I'm trying very hard to control my temper when coaching Gwen but somehow I lose my cool very easily.
Gwen has been tolerating a lot of screaming and shouting from her Tiger mum. *guilty* I'm not happy with her handwriting so I have been pressing her to practice her writing everyday. Just a short sentence everyday plus several words. I want to train her to write faster and nicer.
I would say Gwen's learning ability is of average only. She forgets easily. Do you know that I spent several days to teach her simple Mandarin like "Wo yau he shui" (I want to drink water) and "Wo yau che fan" (I want to eat rice)? Thank God, she remembers now.
Ok back to Gwen. Based on my observation, Gwen learns better with repetition and lots of practice. Also, in order to motivate her I reward her with things that she likes.
She has been begging me to buy her some toys...animals again..what else is new with Gwen..haha. I made a deal with her...if she could write nicely and copied everything from the whiteboard into her diary on moral studies at school, I will get her the Pets Toob.
Her writings in her Diary book.
Too big and very hard to differentiate between uppercase and lowercase letters.
Stilll not good enough.
Practice, practice and practice everyday....
Finally, the results after 5 days of practicing. I checked her Diary and voila...
She did it! Still needs room for improvement though...hehe. :P
Yes....she got her "reward" in the end...
I also bought a cute Penguin back pack for her..hehe.
The penguin is very soft to touch like a plush toy.
P/S: Keep up the good work Gwen. Still need more practice ya. :) Mummy will learn to be moreeeee patient from now on. *Breathe in, breathe out...*

Not only you... The line here is very unstable these days too :(
Gwen is really an animal lover!
ahh..I think Gwen is doing pretty well. I like her little pets :) Don't be so hard on her and on yourself, mommy :)
At least Gwen is good in reading :) I think kids have their moods too. Chloe is also like Gwen... sometimes her handwriting is ok but sometimes horrendous! I just keep one eye close only and don't usually push her too hard. Just take it easy lah... Gwen is already very "guai" and obedient in so many other aspects :)
Yes...Ethel also has her mood. when her mood is good, she can write very nice. But when she get distracted....cakar ayam..sweat***
a mum has got to be very patient..
well done..
I can see a lot of improvement in the handwriting. She can write as good as mummy~ Your routine practice with Gwen is fruitful finally.
I cannot deny that Gwen is the biggest animals lover :)
oh.. she is going well.. more rewards to come ya.. :D Gambateh mummy & Gwen!
I think Gwen is very "guai" to practice, and can really see the improvement. She deserves the rewards! I love all the animals... so cute :-). Don't be too hard on her la, Mummy... kids also have mood one :-)
Oh yes can see some of her writing is neat & nice and dun. All depend on mood ya, same like my girl. Sometime I also boiling my blood and yes my girl attention span is short. It actually influence her study at school and later in primary need very good concentration. Now I'm try to do more activities to improve her concentration.
Good behavior is deserving.. :)
Gwen has a good collection of animals. Her writings is improving. Keep it up, Gwen.
I think I will have a tough time teaching my girl next time too. Tried a few times and it was so hard to control my temper! Really salute kindy teachers.
Good to see her improvements in the writing. Yan Yan has a writing test, she gets B only, so you can imagine her hand writing is not good also. I am also making her to practice to write :)
Btw, the animals miniatures are cute
Mummy Gwen, I would suggest you to buy the writing books which consist of 3 lines. I saw you using 2 lines writing books. 3 lines writing books are meant for toddler like Gwen.
You can print the paper here http://www.activityvillage.co.uk/printable_lined_paper.htm
Mummy Gwen, I don't think you're a tiger mum lah... you have your own way to teach Gwen. Can see her improvement in the handwriting, keep up the good work!
wow..so fast la..5 days only.
Gwen's writing is very neat and advanced... I am a lazy mummy... Ziyi's writing is very ugly and I seldom correct her when she writes something wrong...
a job well done :) .
good job Gwen...!!

cant imagine you as a tiger mom as u sounded so soft spoken and sweet :P
love gwen's toys. they are so cute! The penguin is cute too :)
Practice makes perfect. Seems like ur reward system is working vy well. :)
I actually won't mind her scratchy writing, I must say her grammar is impeccable! Well done Gwen!
There is a tiger in every mom... Hehehe... Same here... Oh i need to guide my boy on his writting too.. :D
