Daddy Is Home

Hubby just came back from Jogjakarta today. He was away for almost 2 weeks on a working assignment...and next week he will be off to Bandung again. -_-

He sms-ed me just before he boarded the plane requesting me to cook his favourite chicken curry. He was craving for home-cooked food...poor Hubby. Lucky for him, there were 2 stalks of lemon grass left in the fridge..hehe.

Actually I was thinking to ask Hubby to bring us out for dinner (Gwen and I stayed at home last weekend..boringnya) but I think he will be very tired when he reached home. So I quickly prepared dinner just now.


My version of Chicken Curry without coconut milk. A slightly healthier version and still tasted good.

On an unrelated topic, this is a back-dated post of our outing last 2 weekends ago. This was our only outing so far during the weekend (since we came back from KL).

We went to Plaza Senayan again. We had lunch at a Taiwanese restaurant...too bad I can't remember the name of the restaurant.

Top Ten Things I Wish I Could Do

Thanks Yan for the tag. It sounds like a pretty simple tag but I'm cracking my head to come up with ten things...haha. To know more about me, please read on. :)

Here is my list :

1. Able to speak and write in Mandarin so I could teach Gwen Mandarin myself. I'm so ashamed to say that Gwen has almost zero knowledge in Mandarin. :(

2. Hoping Gwen could finish her work/worksheet fast and not be the last in her class (almost...). When I went to fetch Gwen from school yesterday, she was still doing her Math worksheet. Her class teacher was sitting there guiding her. Gwen was the second last in her class to finish her addition worksheet. The boy sitting beside her was the last one.

3. Make Gwen smarter and think faster! Her "tidak apa (don't care less)" attitude is driving me crazy.

4. Keep the house clean, organize and spotless all the time. I don't like doing household chores actually..hehe. I'm working on it.

5. Stop aging. I don't have wrinkles yet but one thing that I absolutely hate is my graying hair. :(

6. All of us could stay in KL forever. This is impossible right now coz Hubby is not even working in Malaysia.

7. Wish Gwen and I could stay in Jakarta for another 2-3 years. Unfortunately Gwen and I have to move back to KL by end of this year for Gwen's education sake. We want her to study in a Chinese medium school in KL. It's really difficult to accomodate this in Jakarta. That means we will be living apart from Hubby. :(

8. Cook healthy and delicious food for my family everyday.

9. Have another baby. Still thinking about it due to the "long distance" issue we will be facing soon. But time is running out....I'm getting old!

10. Control my temper when coaching Gwen on her homework. "Patience is a virtue"...breathe in breathe out.

Multivitamins For Kids

My sister wanted to order some multivitamins (for her 2 year old plus son) from an online store selling vitamins, supplement and natural health products so she asked me whether I would like to get some multivitamins for Gwen as well.

Actually my sister was sourcing for high grade cod liver oil for her son not those cod liver oil we usually buy from the pharmacies. She get to know this online store from US called iHerb.com from a Singapore Motherhood website on the internet.

We ordered the multivitamins last month and within 2 weeks our order arrived from the US (my sister used her address in Singapore. She just moved back to KL from Singapore few weeks ago). Good news...iHerb.com ship to Malaysia too.

I bought a bottle of chewable multivitamin and a bottle of cod liver oil for Gwen. These are whole food vitamins which has no artificial colors and flavors.

1. Rainbow Light Nutri Stars Chewable Vitamin

I bought this multivitamin because it was the best selling vitamin for children on iHerb.com. I'm not promoting iHerb.com and this is not an advertorial/paid post ya. ^_^


100% Natural-Free of artificial colors, flavors, sweeteners, preservatives and other objectionable additives often found in vitamin products. Contains no lactose/dairy or yeast.

This multivitamin is quite expensive. It's selling at USD$27.99 (normal price) on iHerb.com. The price was less than that when we bought it coz they were having discounts then.


The Nutri Stars are quite big as you can see in the pic. It's chewable with fruity smell but it is not sweet like candies. Actually, it tastes kinda bland but Gwen has no problem taking it. Infact she loves it.

2. Childlife Cod Liver Oil

Based on my sister's findings, she recommended Nordic Naturals and Childlife which provide top quality fish oils. Nordic Naturals is the most recommended one. But I bought Childlife Cod Liver Oil for Gwen instead. My sister told me Childlife is selling at GNC in Singapore but it's very expensive...SGD45-SGD50.

Her New Toy Poodle

Hubby went to Singapore for a business trip last week. It was just a short stay and he was back to Jakarta last Friday. Papa bought something for Gwen from Changi Airport...haha. I told Gwen about her surprise and she waited patiently for Papa to come home that night. Papa reached home just after 12 midnight.

Papa knows Gwen very well that she loves animals and she has a very strong fondness towards Dogs especially "Poodles". She knows very well how a Poodle looks like..hehe...there's no way we can fool her. ^_^


Papa bought a mechanical Toy Poodle. It can bark, walk and wag its tail.


Gwen asked me to take pics of her stuffed toy Poodle called "Kiki" with its new friend.


Gwen gave her new Poodle a name, "Curly"..LOL. Looks like Kiki's fur is curlier than Curly. :P

Papa also have something for Mama. :) It's not considered a surprise coz I told my Hubby to get me something from Changi Airport.

Me : Buy me something from the airportlah.

Hubby : Emmm....buy what ah?

Me : You know what I like right? *don't want to keep him guessing* There are 2 things I like...make-up and skincare.

Hubby : Hehe...ok.

So, Hubby came home with this for me. ^_^

Holiday Is Over!

We are back in Jakarta! Just came back yesterday evening (how I miss my home and family in KL..sob sob). Today is Gwen's first day of school. She is in K2 and today is the first day of Term 1. I'm lucky that Gwen doesn't have any issue going back to school after such a long holiday break...almost 2 months! However, she was late for school..the traffic in our area is a total madness (plus Gwen woke up late too..hehe).

There was a belated birthday surprise for Gwen yesterday. The hotel management sent a big box and a card up to our apartment after we arrived. Actually, the management contacted my Hubby and was planning to send a cake for Gwen on her birthday but Gwen and I weren't in Jakarta that time.

Inside the box were 6 Hello Kitty cupcakes. Gwen was very happy yesterday. ^_^


Gwen couldn't wait to eat the cupcakes. She wanted to eat this one first..haha.


Oh dear, this silly girl cried because I told her she can't have the sugar gum paste topping. *slap forehead* In the end she listened to Mummy lah (quite reluctantly). :P

Ipoh Trip - Day 2

We woke up rather late that day and we were supposed to check out by noon. We quickly get ready and rushed to the hotel's cafe to have our breakfast. When we reached the cafe it was already 10am..hehe.

Right after breakfast we did some final packing and proceed to the hotel's lobby for payment and checking out.

After checking out from the hotel, we headed to the Big Tree Stall at Pasir Pinji again coz I wanna tapau some "Sar Kok Liew (deep-fried stuffed turnip)" back to KL. To my disappointment, the "Sar Kok Liew" ran out of stock...bummer..so ended up I only tapau-ed some other fried "liews".

We did not forget to buy some swiss rolls from JJ Cakes too. ^_^ I bought 3 flavours: Cempedak, Durian and Chocolate Mocha.

All this driving here and there cost us alot of time and before we knew it,...it was almost 1PM. We were still full from our late breakfast so we decided to go to Foh San for dim sum (trying our luck).

As it was already lunch hour, there were many empty tables at Foh San. :)

We didn't order much coz we weren't that hungry. To be honest, the dim sum at Foh San was really good. ^_^













Before we embark our journey back to KL, we stopped by at this temple which is situated just somewhere along the road leading to the highway.

Well, that wraps up our short holiday to Ipoh. We will definitely be back again. :)


Oh ya...managed to grab some cheap make up from the warehouse sale held at the hotel we stayed.

Ipoh Trip - 2nd July 2011

Hi ya all! Sorry for the short hiatus from blogging as I was busy catching up and going out almost everyday with my siblings and their families. My siblings were back from Singapore last 2 weeks ago to celebrate my Dad's 70th birthday. It was a grand birthday celebration for my Dad. :) Will blog about it soon.

Actually I have quite a lot of things to blog about..hehe..right now let me blog about our Ipoh trip first. My Hubby took a one week leave from work last week so we decided to go to Ipoh to hunt for good food (finally...) and we even stayed one night at the Tower Regency Hotel (after reading Mommy Ling's review on this hotel..:P).

This was our first maiden trip to Ipoh and I couldn't believe it that we actually managed to find most of the famous places to eat in Ipoh (with the help of Hubs' Blackberry which has the map function).

I did my homework before embarking to Ipoh and I referred to this blog, a famous food blogger from Ipoh called "Motormouth From Ipoh". This is the complete list of ultimate food in Ipoh from Motormouth.


Ipoh...here we come!

We check in at Tower Regency Hotel first right after we reached Ipoh. Hubby booked the hotel through phone at 1am on the same day we travel to Ipoh. Only left the One Room Apartment at RM208 per day.


We were satisfied with the condition of the apartment. It was clean and cozy. Also, the location of the hotel is strategic too.

After checking in at the hotel, we headed to the famous bean sprouts chicken restaurant, Lou Wong. Suddenly we remembered that we actually ate here before...LOL...that was almost 3 years ago when we were on our way back from Cameron Highlands to KL and decided to stop in Ipoh for lunch. Coincidently, we ended up at Lou Wong (we didn't know Lou Wong is the most popular chicken rice restaurant in Ipoh back then)..LOL.


That's the restaurant...haha we were here 3 years ago.

The food at Lou Wong was good but not their service though..hehe. We were here rather late around 2PM hence the place wasn't crowded and we managed to grab a table.


We also bought some "heong peng" and biscuits from this shop which is right opposite Lou Wong. We were here too 3 years ago..LOL.

Finally, I get to sink my teeth into this..."sar kok liew" (deep fried stuffed turnip/yam bean). I absolutely love them...yummy. ^_^

The rojak was quite good.

After stuffing our stomachs with so much food, we went back to the hotel and had some rest. Hubs and I took a nap. As for Gwen she was an energizer bunny...she was watching TV on bed and played alone.

We drove to Medan Selera Stadium for our dinner. The food court was right beside the stadium.
